| Rehoboth Beach, Del. -- The Youngstown State men's golf team placed seventh at the one-day 36-hole Rehoboth Beach Invitational on Monday at the Kings Creek Country Club. The Penguins had a 36-hole score of 628 after posting rounds of 318 and 310. George Washington, the host school of the event, placed first with a 596. Ross Beal led Youngstown State finishing 15th overall. Beal had rounds of 82 and 72 to finish with a score of 154. Jim Powers placed 29th firing a 158 (77-81), Kyle Romig (83-76) and teammate Nate Komsa (80-79) finished 32nd with a 159, Ryan McGraw placed 37th with a 160 (79-81) and Josh Zarlenga was 43rd with a 163 (85-78). The Penguins are next in action at Keenan Fall Invitational hosted by St. Bonaventure on Oct. 3-4. |

| Indianapolis, Ind. -- YSU men's golfer Nate Komsa tied for second with four other golfers at the Butler Fall Invitational which concluded on Tuesday afternoon at the Eagle Creek Golf Course. Oakland's Jonathan Pauli won the event with a 211 while Komsa and three other golfers tied with a 214. Komsa posted rounds of 75, 67 and 72 in the event. His second-round 67 was the second-lowest round of the tournament. As a team, YSU placed fifth in the 14-team field with a three-round score of 887 (301-292-294). Oakland won the event with an 870, IUPUI was second (877), Cleveland State was third (290) and UW-Green Bay placed fourth (886). Other finishers for the Penguins were Kyle Romig who tied for 24th with a 214 (75-67-72), Ryan McGraw who tied for 37th with a 227 (76-79-72), Ross Beal who finished 40th carding a 228 (78-77-73) and Josh Zarlenga who placed 46th with a 229 (76-75-78). |

| Indianapolis, Ind. -- Youngstown State freshman women's golfer Mallory Wyderka (Olmstead Falls, Ohio) picked up her second straight top-five finish placing fourth at the Butler Fall Invitational to help lead the Penguins to a second-place overall finish in the six-team event. Wyderka had a three-round score of 237 (80-79-78) to place four strokes behind medalist Cleveland State's Kristen Obush (233). Butler took top team honors with a three-round total of 952. The Penguins carded a 974 (319-324-331) at the tournament which concluded on Tuesday at the Eagle Creek Golf Course. Senior Gina Abruzzino placed sixth carding a 241 (80-80-81) giving the Penguins two top-five finishers. Brittany Jones finished 14th with a 247 (78-87-92), Bonnie Sherman was 15th firing a 250 (82-78-80) and Felicia Ciotola finished 25th with a 266 (81-87-99). |

| Bowling Green, Ohio -- Youngstown State freshman Mallory Wyderka placed fourth to help the Penguins finish fifth at the Bowling Green Falcon Invitational which concluded on Sunday afternoon at the Forrest Creason Golf Course. Wyderka had a two-round total of 157 (80-77) to tie with two other golfers for fourth place. Western Ontario won the event with team score of 637 while the Penguins placed fifth with a 654 (331-323). |

| Bowling Green, Ohio -- The Youngstown State men's golf team opened the 2004 fall season with a 12th-place finish at the BGSU John Piper Intercollegiate meet held at Stone Ridge Golf Course. Nate Komsa led the Penguins with a 22nd-place finish. As a team, YSU finished with a three-round total of 904 posting rounds of 297, 300 and 307. Marquette won the event with an 852 while Ohio U was second followed by Oakland. Komsa had rounds of 70, 74 and 77 to pace the Penguins with a 221 (five-over par). Josh Zarlenga (73-77-77) and Ross Beal (75-77-75) tied for 43rd carding a 227 (11-over). Freshman Ryan McGraw (79-75-78) finished 57th with a 232 while Jim Powers (79-74-82) placed 66th with a 235. The Penguins are next in action at the Butler Fall Invitational held Sept. 20-21 in Indianapolis. |

| Yorktown, Ind. -- The Youngstown State women's golf team opened their 2004-05 season with a 14th-place finish at the 17-team Ball State Cardinal Classic which concluded on Sunday afternoon. The Penguins lineup consisted of senior Gina Abruzzino and four freshmen who were competing in their first collegiate meet. The Penguins had a two-round score of 673 with rounds of 333 and 340. Western Michigan won the event followed by Ferris State. Abruzzino paced the Penguins with a 24th-place finish. She had rounds of 76 and 80 to finish with a 156. Competing in their first collegiate competitions were Mallory Wyderka, Felicia Ciotola, Brittany Jones and Kristen Albrecht. Wyderka shot a 168 (86 and 82) placing 62nd, Ciotola shot a 172 (83 and 89) finishing 68th, Jones carded a 177 (88 and 89) to place 77th and Albrecht had a 182 (90 and 92) to finish 83rd. YSU is BGSU Falcon Fall Invitational on Sept. 18. |
